Privacy policy
Last updated 4 September 2026. This policy is written for readers in the United Kingdom.
democratpeak (“we”) is the controller of personal data described here. You can write to us at 67QF+XC, Milnthorpe LA7 7NJ, United Kingdom, or email [email protected].
What we collect
If you email us, we process the address you send from, your name if you give it, and the content of the message, so that we can read it and reply. If you open the contact form, your device’s email client carries that information; we do not host a mail server on this site. We do not run a newsletter. We do not sell lists.
Our web host and content-delivery logs may record IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and to keep the site up. Those logs are kept only as long as needed for that purpose.
Cookies
We set one essential preference in local storage — democratpeak_consent — so that we can remember whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies. We do not currently run analytics, advertising, or social-media pixels. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask again.
Lawful basis
Correspondence is processed under legitimate interests: running a journal and answering the people who write to it. You may also, by writing, enter a conversation you initiated (steps at your request). Logs for security are legitimate interests. We do not rely on consent for the act of reading an email you sent us.
How long we keep it
Editorial correspondence is kept for as long as the conversation is live and then for a limited archive, so that we can handle corrections and disputes. You can ask us to delete a letter. We will do so unless we must keep a record — for example, a correction already published, or a legal claim.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, and objection, and you can ask for a copy of data you provided in a portable form. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you wrote to us first, at the address above, so we can fix the thing.
Processors and transfers
This site is served from infrastructure that may process requests in the UK, the EEA, or other countries where our host operates. Fonts and icons are requested from fonts.bunny.net and cdn.jsdelivr.net when you load a page; those services receive the technical facts of the request. We do not send them your correspondence.
Children
The journal is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect data about children.
